Green Hailstones

Well...obviously not.  But that's the first thought to pop into my head when I looked out and saw several of these galls laying scattered about on my deck.

I was able to locate a dozen more Texas Gold Columbine (Aquilegia chrysantha var. hinckleyana) and get them into the ground.  I also planted another 'Cherry Coke' Dyckia into my Three Tiers Garden - still on the prowl for three more of these.

    1. Well, not sure if they'd do well outdoors in the cold sinkhole where you live! But this particular variety has done quite well outside in my garden; even surviving that brutal winter a couple of years back with just a towel thrown onto it (only showing very minor damage afterwards).

  2. I agree...what are they?
We had some gall things on the Live Oaks. But, they're smaller and brown.

  3. Galls: I believe they are called Oak Apple Galls and are caused by tiny wasps called Gall Wasps (Family Cynipidae).
