Measuring Rain

Recently, my son gave me the brass-colored dragonfly rain gauge I had been coveting.

And just in time too.  As during the last 24+ hours, my garden received nearly four inches of much needed rain.

(Slightly skewed, of course, by the omnipresent spring oak fuzzies)

  1. 4 inches! Congratulations! We got 2.3" at my house in San Antonio. I love your new rain gauge. I hope you get to put it to use often this year.

  3. Very nice and it looks as though it should last a good while. I have been through so many rain gauges.

  4. That's a nice gift and like you said, timely too! My gauge shows 2.2" in Steiner. So thankful. Heard LCRA report that the lake went up 1 foot today and should rise more in the next few days - said we're at about 50% now. Ahhh, keep it coming!

  5. That is a beautiful rain gauge..and lovelier with rain in it. Makes a much nicer picture than our digital one.

We got almost two inches here. But, with the ground already wet, there was a lot of run off....filling up those creeks, rivers and lakes!

  6. A serious gardener should have a serious rain gauge! We got 1.9" down southwest . . .

  8. Broad hints...or a son who actually pays attention? Either way, I am impressed with your parenting skills.
