Post Freeze: Aloe Was Blooming in December

Well, by golly, I guess this proves that Soap Aloe (Aloe maculata) blooms don't like 28 degree nights.  Think the plant itself likely suffered some damage but it tends to handle that level of cold fairly well.

  1. Although I know it's just the natural state of affairs, I'm always fascinated and a bit saddened when everything freezes. Sorry to see your bloom suffer.

  2. Season’s Greetings!

Oh, that looks painful. I am well aware of the fact that nature knows how to handle its affairs but some aspects of it seem a bit harsh and even cruel.

I do hope that the plant survives the frost although its flowers didn’t.

  3. I've never been brave enought to keep my aloes (or any of my succulents, really) outdoors in the winter. Hope the rest of your plants are OK!

  4. Poor thing. I know how it feels.

Thanks for the info on the duck and Old Baldy. Have to look up the duck and see some better pictures than I got.
And, climbing up Old Baldy is on my list of things to do this year.

    Have a good weekend.
